Why cleaning is opportune for nutrifying.

From cleaning to nutrifying.

INSIGHT

Our mouths are porous environments that absorb nutrients easily.

You’ve likely heard of leaky gut, what about leaky mouth? This term, thought to have been invented by Dr. Cass Nelson-Dooley, MS when researching the oropharyngeal microbiome, speaks to the importance of promoting the integrity of our internal linings with our microbiome. The mucosa of the mouth is already highly porous (one of the reasons many vitamin products are administered sublingually) and there’s now discussion on whether that membrane (like the lining of our guts) can be affected by inflammation and infection to the point of allowing harmful proteins and organisms into the bloodstream even before it passes through our system. A fact that is particularly worrisome given our air quality is also getting increasingly worse across the world on top of our diets and access to nutrient rich soil for daily produce. With daily habits that come into contact with a highly porous mouth (brushing, flossing and mouth washing) why aren’t we taking advantage of this situation a little bit more?

What if this were a way to administer the adequate amount of vitamins and minerals needed to supplement our diets without swallowing a vast majority of capsules (of which, according to some studies, up to 90% doesn’t even get absorbed into our bloodstreams). At the moment, our commoditized oral care of paying $5 for toothpaste and buying plastic toothbrushes that are breeding grounds for bacterial build up seems like an archaic way to go about this daily habit that is already engrained. Surely we can habit stack our toothbrushing behavior with better alternatives AND a way to take advantage of our leaky mouths.

How might we substitute this conditioned habit of brushing with a prescriptive nutrient-rich boost we need daily?

INSPIRATION

Vitamin Paste Kids

Get at least 50% daily vitamins D, E, B3, B5, B6 through this great vitamin toothpaste for kids (and adults too). Taking out the fluoride, this ingestible toothpaste is safe, tasty and healthy – a hard trifecta to achieve when looking for a product kids use daily.

Over a thirty year career in practicing dentistry, Dr. Golden created this innovative wonder in oral care. A toothpaste for adults was also created that delivers extra vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants every time they brush.

Before Vitaminpaste, kids’ toothpaste options had always included artificial coloring, flavoring, sparkles, and packaging with cartoon characters. These have nothing to do with oral hygiene or any other added benefits. Instead, they are used as tricks by big brands to condition kids and parents to look for them when deciding for an entertaining purchase; rather than a healthy one. Now with Vitaminpaste for kids, there’s the ADDED benefit of getting at least 50% of their daily vitamins D, E, B3, B5, and B6 by brushing (as directed of course).

Florapaste

INNOVATION

“Florapaste”

Daily vitamin/mineral/prebiotic dose in an oil form that you can use as a gum massage oil to massage gums post brushing or as a natural oil-based toothpaste with minimal foam. (Note: foam as a surfactant is an invention for personal care cleaning products to give the sense that a product is ‘working’).

  • Mouth mucosa is prime skin for nutrient absorption so prebiotic Revitin is added to establish a healthy oral bacterial balance. Neutralizing pH, decreasing inflammation and disrupting dental plaque, these droplets act as a line of defense for the mouth along with delivering some healthy vitamins and trace minerals to your system.

  • Three different variations with additional support for vegetarians (B-12), expectant mothers (folate), and athletes (new performance-enhancing microbe: Veillonella).

  • Developed as a massage oil that lightly foams to encourage users to spend time on their gums before (oil pulling), while (brushing) or after (massaging) – ultimately the healthy root of having strong teeth.
