Know if you have Micheal Phelps or Quasimodo sperm.

From female infertility to male ‘in virility’.

INSIGHT

Sperm health is a product of many lifestyle habits and fluctuates as much as his overall health.

Hearing the words ‘infertile’ or ‘underperforming sperm’ can feel like the end-of-the-world for couples trying to get pregnant. Often the focus is on the woman first, with ample tests to ensure she has enough healthy eggs and a stable hormonal cycle. Only after, do we question male fertility (which still counts for almost half of infertility issues) pointing to deficiencies in semen, used as a surrogate measure of male fecundity. But to the one responsible as the first-mover in the baby-making process, you might as well say “unvirility” and chop off his dignity. It’s a sensitive area (pun intended).

This whole notion of fertility-sentencing is enough stress to MAKE someone infertile if they weren’t already beforehand through stress alone. Whereas, perhaps with no debilitating issues on the table, could be something as flighty as the flu. In fact, all bodily fluids from blood, tears, mucosa, sweat, saliva, urine, discharge, and semen hold incredible amounts of information about our health (especially together) and fluctuate on a daily basis according to our diets, stress-levels, hormonal balance, hydration, season and light exposure, temperature and time of day. Getting sensitive to the right “inputs” (environmentally and nutritionally) to change the quality of sperm is an ripe area for innovation.

We track female ovulation with countless apps, how might we track the health of semen as an indicator of overall virility?

Test Your Swimmers

INNOVATION

“Test Your Swimmers”

A fun home-kit for testing sperm health (aka. Male version of a home-based fertility test).

  • As male sperm health is something that can change on a day-to-day basis, with much fluctuation due to lifestyle habits; the accuracy and ease of a clinical test is not necessarily optimal. This fertility doctor approved home-based test works easily to help men (and partners) understand the quality of male sperm for impregnating on various parameters (virility, speed, shape, density and count).

  • Convenient, non-invasive and done in a relaxing environment that you can control.

  • Takes the heat off of the clinical hassle of doctor visits, and emotional strain around being "virile" as this is a dynamic equation.

  • Builds off of weekly data to better understand one's health through sample-feedback information to adjust lifestyle behavior (diet, rest, exercise, etc) that is trackable from an app.
