You need to become sensitive to be resilient.

From supplementing to sensitizing.

INSIGHT

Our bodies are naturally built with their own senso-receptors to balance our own biochemistry.

Our bodies are constantly giving us clues about its vitality. Vitals, symptoms, aches, pains, smells, biomarkers, visible signs, energy dips — in our desire to push forward (or indulge!), we often suppress or desensitize the need to pay attention to all these bio-cues — information that is available to us every day (and if highly sensitive, every moment).

Yet we tend to address these bio-cues with general remedies proffered to us by institutionalized health standards (i.e. ~90mg of Vitamin C depending on age) rather than training our bodies to harness the intrinsic gifts it already has: our own biochem sensory receptors. The Olfactory Epithelium located at the back of our nose, utilizes it’s powerful smell mechanism (80% of what constitutes “flavor” which we know as “taste” in our 5 senses) and signals to the brain (along with autonomic nervous system signals from our neurally competent guts) whether something is dangerous or healthful. It’s an incredibly brilliant design: one that actually triggers salivation and digestion when the body needs a certain nutrient. Do I need cupcakes then you ask?

Some recent studies speculate that the proliferation of bad bacteria in the gut will signal the need for more sugar (those imposters!) in order to survive, instead of the natural cravings your body was designed for in order to receive the adequate amount of nutrients to function. Ever notice that when you start getting more disciplined with eating that you crave sugary or processed foods less? Your gut is healing; no more impostor signals. Similar but different mechanism is at work when you hear stories of those shipwrecked at sea, favoring any part of the fish except its white flesh after several days in order to optimize nutrient intake over calories. And it's definitely our senses, not our eyes that are craving those fish guts.

Gaining sensitivity in our various sensing capabilities trumps any diet any day of the week — because it’s bio-individual and already keyed into the lack (or abundance) of certain minerals and vitamins needed for optimal metabolic function. The hard part of that is just discipline and being willing to start with eliminating anything that those impostor bacteria may be swaying you towards and messing up your sensing game to gravitate toward more nourishing options in any sustained way.

How might we amplify people's sensitivity in order to heighten their awareness to what the body needs rather than what the mind craves?

INSPIRATION

SENSEable Supplements

SENSEable Supplements has been researching our bodies innate ability to know what nutrients it needs for over 25 years and have come up with an excellent line of products that supplement according to sensing your own biochemistry. With simple smell or taste tests, you can train what nutrients your body is seeking through your own built-in olfactory navigation system rather than relying on written prescriptions.

Smell & taste are your built in nutrient navigation system. Engage these natural senses to make smarter supplement choices & improve your diet. Their top lines consist of:

Synergy Rx

INNOVATION

“Synergy Rx“

A.I. technology that detects and predicts optimal food synergies and probiotic optibiotics for daily nutrition through prescriptive diets — that train you to be more sensitive over time and also taste good.

  • The fields of synbiotics and optibiotics (synergism in food ingredients or dietary supplements by combining pro & pre biotics) has had time to mature in the lab. This A.I. predictive technology looks at different optimal bioavailability combinations for the gastrointestinal tract AND taste profiles for enjoyment.

  • Many foods become more bioavailable when working in combination (i.e. tomatoes and balsamic vinegar); and cultures have often intuitively discovered those patterns via taste sensitivity. Now working with artificial intelligence to recognize optimal patterns for the combined goal of being healthy & tasty, no one will have to sacrifice one for the other any longer.

  • A database then becomes the archive point for SynAppetiteTM to run queries based on selected ingredients (ie. available in your kitchen) or the top 20 combinations in general for a particular locale (knowing fresh/quality/organic produce will increase nutrient profiles dramatically).
